RCM:Recovering lost phone

Information is one of the most valuable assets of every company. Shared by employees and stored on mobile devices, it may easily be disclosed from a lost or stolen phone. To prevent it from unauthorized use, the phone may be remotely locked. Additionally, you can wipe sensitive data stored in the phone. Be sure to instruct your employees on how to act in case they lose their phone. Typically, you an employee will call you to report that he has lost his phone.

In this case you should:

1. Lock phone immediately.

2. Define reward for the lost phone. (if it has not been previously set). A locked phone will then display the following message:

3. Wipe all phone contents if unsuccessful.

4. Call the police in case of replacing SIM card of the lost phone.

1. Click Employees in the navigation menu.

2. Click Image:ICO_employee_info.png against the employee’s name in the list of employees.

5. A warning message will display.

6. Click Lock Phone to proceed or click Image:ICO_back.png Back to go back to the Send SMS menu.

If the employee reports that the phone has been found, perform the steps described in Locking and unlocking phone to unlock the phone.

Do not unlock the phone until the employee has actual posession of the found phone!

Important

At some point you may decide to give the Employee a new phone as a replacement of the missing one if it is impossible to find or recover. In that case you will have to make related changes to the Employee’s profile and install client software on the new phone (see Changing employee's phone for more instructions). If you by chance manage to return or find the phone later, be sure to change the settings to the reverse.

Define reward for the lost phone

1. Click Settings in the navigation menu.

2. Click Image:Edit_Settings.png Edit Settings link in the action list at the top.

3. Enter the reward in the Lost phone reward field. This reward will be displayed on the lost phone when somebody finds it.

4. Finally, press Update button.

Wipe all phone contents

Wipe command deletes all data including contacts, emails, documents, etc without a chance to restore them. Mind that operation cannot be undone. To wipe off all the data from the phone’s memory, see Wiping stolen phone.

Call the police

A stolen phone cannot be used in any way if locked. If a thief attempts to replace a SIM card, an SMS message will be sent to a predefined number. The SMS message will contain the thief’s mobile number which may be reported to police.

To define the phone number for SMS alerts, perform the following steps:

1. Click Settings in the navigation menu.

2. Click Image:Edit_Settings.png Edit Settings link in the action list at the top.

3. Enter the phone number in SMS Alert Number field.

4. Click Update button below to save changes.
