RCM:Step 7 - Installing and activating phone clients

There are several ways to install RCM Client software to employee’s phones.
- From memory card - this is the easiest way to deploy RCM client software on multiple phones.
- From PC - this is similar to the above, but requires PC with PC Suite installed on it and USB cable to connect phones.
- By sending an SMS link - this way requires employee's interaction and not recommend.
From memory card
1. Insert an empty memory card into the memory card reader. Format it if needed.
2. Create X:\private\10202dce\ folder (where X is the memory card's drive letter).
3. Go to http://www.remotecallmanager.com/RcmClient_S60.sis and save RCM Client installation file to the folder created in the previous step.
4. Insert the memory card into a phone. The following message will appear:
5. Click Yes to begin installation. A dialog box containing installation details will appear:
6. Wait until the installation completes. A progress bar will display the installation status:
7. Remove the card from the phone. You can later use it to install RCM Client on another phone.
8. Perform synchronization from the phone.
NoteIf the installation fails, then you should either reformat the phone with *#7370# combination, or use one of other installation ways. This way can be used only once per phone. |
From PC
- Download Nokia PC Suite from official Nokia website: http://www.nokia.com/pcsuite/.
- Install PC Suite on your computer. Follow instructions on the website and in the installation wizard to complete installation.
- Connect a phone via USB cable to PC.
- Go to http://www.remotecallmanager.com/RcmClient_S60.sis to download RCM Client installation package.
- Double-click RcmClient_S60.sis to install it to the connected phone.
- Perform synchronization from the phone.
By sending SMS link
1. Click Employees in the navigation menu.
2. Click
against the employee’s name in the list of employees.
3. Click
Send SMS link in the action bar at the top.
4. Click
Send Download link link.
5. Click OK when prompted to confirm action.
6. On the phone open the SMS message and select Options > Open link in the menu.
7. Confirm the downloading and wait until it is complete. The following dialog will display offering you to install RCM Client:
8. Follow on-screen instructions to perform installation.
9. Perform synchronization from the phone.
First synchronization
1. After the installation is complete, RCM will start automatically. Otherwise, do it manually by selecting Installations > RCM in the phone's menu).
2. You may be prompted to enter the phone number (if it cannot be read from the SIM card). Enter the phone number to proceed.
3. Select an available Internet Access Point to connect to RCM server.
4. The synchronization will start. The following dialog box will display the current installation progress:
After this, the data on the employee's phone will be synchronized with the RCM Server automatically according to time intervals defined on the Settings page. For more information on automatic synchronization settings, see Defining settings. Once the first synchronization is completed, the Phone is ready to use and will be monitored by RCM server.
