RCM:Wiping stolen phone

From RCMWiki

Jump to: navigation, search

This operation deletes all phone data including contacts, calendar, messages and documents. Bringing phone memory to its initial state may be useful when an employee leaves the company and the mobile phone is assigned to a different employee. This operation also prevents sensitive data from use by other people in cases when an employee’s phone is lost or stolen.

To wipe off all data from an employee’s phone, perform the following actions:

1. Click Employees in the navigation menu.

2. Click Image:ICO_employee_info.png against the employee’s name in the list of employees.

3. Click Image:ICO_send_SMS.png Send SMS link in the action bar at the top.

4. If the phone was stolen and a SIM card has been replaced, you will receive an SMS message with the thief’s phone number (Alien SMS). In this case, enter this phone number into Thief’s phone number field. If a thief’s phone number is unknown, leave the field blank, and the wipe command will be sent to the original employee’s phone number.

5. Click Image:ICO_send_SMS.png Wipe phone! link. A warning message will appear.

Note

This operation cannot be undone, and therefore you will not be able to recover the data even if you find the phone. To minimize loss of data due to wipe operation, create backups on regular basis.

6. Click Wipe Phone button to confirm or click Image:ICO_back.png Back to abort operation.
